Alentejo — meaning "beyond the Tagus" — is Portugal's largest region, a vast golden plain stretching south of the Tagus River to the Spanish border. The Characteristics of Alentejo Wines

Alentejo red wines are made primarily from Aragonez (Tempranillo), Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet, and Touriga Nacional. They are characterised by their deep colour, generous aromas of plum, blackberry, chocolate, and warm spices, and their velvety, enveloping texture that makes them immediately appealing.
